OUR COMMITMENT TO TRANSPARENCY

WWF Italy, WWF International and Bolton Food are working together in a transformative partnership to make the fishing industry more sustainable and safeguard the health of our oceans. Goals include improving the transparency and traceability of operations.

Greater transparency and traceability throughout the tuna supply chain are important for a number of reasons, including:

– combating fraud, food waste, illegal fishing, human rights abuses and environmental degradation throughout the supply chain

– strengthening the positive shift of the entire industry towards ocean stewardship

– satisfying international standards, national laws and the increasing demand from consumers for reliable and transparent information regarding the origin of their products

As part of its commitment with the WWF and, in particular the one related to increasing traceability and transparency, Bolton Food has decided to publish real-time tracking information of the fishing vessels it owns via the map below. The map originates from Global Fishing Watch, a technology-based initiative to publish information and provide analysis on activities at sea. Data from fishing vessels are analysed every six months by an independent data analyst.
